#16 Aaarrgh (& Henry Miller)
Why is that the one time I decide it won't matter if I go to bed late because I can lie in I get woken at 9am by lots of banging followed by drilling directly outside my window (and that's actually literally outside my window). Don't they know that Sunday is national lie in day? So anyway, I decided to read while they drilled as I couldn't exactly sleep, and I finally finished 'Tropic of Capricorn' - that Henry Miller book I've been ploughing through. Actually I've enjoyed most of it (though a few pages today made me want to reassess his character). Everyone told me I'd find it shocking, which I didn't (oooh, the c word, shocking) (though to be fair I was shocked in those few pages I just mentioned but only because of the way he talked about his family). For the most part it was just blunt and true, at least in his mind. Yes, he is a bit big-headed, ok, and arrogant bastard is more how I would describe it but once you get over that it's not that bad and turned out to be a really interesting read. My main problem with it was that there were barely paragraph breaks let alone chapters which makes it difficult to determine when to stop (I usually stopped when I stopped knowing what he was talking about or my mind wandered off onto other things). But generally, not a bad book. In fact, I'm planning on reading 'Tropic of Cancer' at some point in my life.
