Today has been the day I have become completely reinvigorated. I want to live, to learn and mostly to create. This is all thanks to Madeline Bea's Creativity Boot Camp. OK, so in reality it's just prompts - but prompts that have had me writing today. But it is so much more than that. It is the atmosphere (can you get atmosphere from a computer? Not sure, but that's how it feels) of knowing that hundreds of creative people around the world are harnessing their potential and giving themselves a challenge.
I only started it today (it is a two-week course that started yesterday) and already I feel more confident in myself. Not just as a writer but as a person. I am psyched to grab life and take inspiration from the masses that is out there (the internet is one big, scary, incredible place). I want to see where this new direction can take me and so, as advised by the Boot Camp, I have started a creative journal. This is different from my notebook. In my notebook I jot down ideas, inspiration and anything else that comes to mind during the day (I carry it with me everywhere so I always have somewhere to write when inspiration strikes). My journal is for writing about the creative process. About how I feel about my work, about my ideas, about me and my writing. It is something I have tried in snippets in the past but now I want to embrace it, to see what it can teach me and simply to see what comes of it.
For anyone with any creative streak I strongly recommend popping over to the Boot Camp as there will be daily prompts for whatever medium you work in (writing, photography, paint, scrapbooking, etc) and also for creative journals.
